Common questions

How do I switch categories?

Swipe left or right across the die. Each category — No-Cook / Microwave, Oven, Stove, Instant Pot / Slow Cooker, and Go Out — is its own die, and rolling only picks from the options in that category.

Can one option belong to more than one category?

Yes. Pizza, for example, can be both Oven and Go Out. Assign as many categories as you like when adding or editing an option.

How do I add, edit, or delete an option?

Open Settings from the main screen. The full option list is there, and you can add a new one, edit an existing one, or delete it.

What does “Reset to defaults” do?

It wipes the entire option list, including anything you’ve added or changed, and reseeds it with the built-in list DinnerDice ships with. This can’t be undone.

When does the daily reminder arrive?

At the time you choose in Settings, once the reminder switch is on. The first time you turn it on, iOS will ask permission to send notifications — allow it, or the reminder can’t fire. You can change the time or turn it off again at any point.

What are the quest log and achievements?

Every roll and every meal you mark eaten is recorded in a running log, themed like a D&D quest chronicle, along with a streak and a set of achievements you unlock as you use the app.

How do I back up my data?

Your options, roll log, and achievements are stored only on your device. They’re included in an iPhone or iCloud device backup, but there is no separate export at present.

Deleting the app permanently deletes all of this data.
