Fuh-net-ik is published by Matthew Johnson. It is available as an iPhone app and as a web app at phonetics.pendrgn.com; this policy covers both.

Summary

The iPhone app collects no data. It has no accounts, makes no network requests, and everything you save stays on your device. The web app works without an account; an optional free account there stores only what is needed to sign you in and the content you choose to save. There is no advertising, no analytics, and no sale or sharing of data.

The iPhone app

Converting text, saved words, favorites, and your custom phonetic set all live on your device. Nothing is sent to us or anyone else. Deleting the app removes everything it stored.

The web app

Using the web app without an account, converting text stores nothing. Like any website, requests appear in routine server logs (IP address and time of request) kept briefly for security and troubleshooting.

What a web account stores

Your first name, last name, and email address.
Your password, stored only in securely hashed form — we cannot read it.
The content you save: words, custom phonetic sets, and preferences.

This is stored on our server so your saved content is available when you sign in. It is used for nothing else.

Email

Your email address is used to sign you in and to send password-reset messages you request. Those messages are delivered through Resend, an email delivery service, which processes your address solely to deliver the message. We send no marketing email.

What is not collected

No location data.
No analytics, usage statistics, or advertising identifiers.
No third-party trackers of any kind.

Sharing

Your data is not sold, rented, or shared with anyone, with the single exception of the email delivery described above.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Data retention and deletion

Your web account data is kept until you delete it. Sign in, open your account page, and choose “Delete Account” — this permanently removes your account and everything saved with it from our server. You can also email us and we’ll delete it for you.

Changes to this policy

If the app changes what it collects or how, this policy will be updated before that version is released.
