Common questions

Do I need an account?

No. The iPhone app has no accounts at all — your saved words, favorites, and custom phonetic set are stored on your device. The web version offers an optional free account if you want to save words and custom sets there.

Where else can I use it?

The same converter runs on the web at phonetics.pendrgn.com. The iPhone app and the website keep their saved words separately; they don’t sync with each other.

How do I make my own phonetic set?

In the iPhone app, open the menu and choose “Phonetics Settings”, then pick your own word for each letter. On the web, sign in and open the custom phonetics screen.

Why doesn’t the app autocorrect what I type?

On purpose. Names, emails, and codes are exactly the kind of text autocorrect “fixes”, so the converter spells out precisely what you typed. Tap the × at the end of the box to clear it and start again.

How do I reset my password?

Passwords only exist for web accounts. On the sign-in page at phonetics.pendrgn.com, choose “Forgot password” and enter your email address. We’ll send you a reset link.

How do I delete my data?

In the iPhone app, delete words from the Saved Words screen, or delete the app to remove everything it stored. For a web account, sign in at phonetics.pendrgn.com, open your account page, and choose “Delete Account”. This permanently removes the account and everything saved with it. You can also email us and we’ll do it for you.
